Geison’s Journey
Born in Brazil, Geison has an inspiring story of resilience and achievement. In 2006, his life took an unexpected turn after a severe motorcycle accident on his way home from work. The accident resulted in multiple fractures in his hip, and doctors informed him he would need a wheelchair permanently.
For years, Geison faced physical and emotional challenges, but during his recovery, he discovered his inner strength and the true meaning of overcoming obstacles. Defying medical expectations, Geison relearned how to walk and was introduced to road races - a transformative experience that changed his life forever.
Sports not only gave him a new purpose but also opened doors to a successful career. With determination and discipline, Geison became a standout athlete, earning global awards and honors that recognize his excellence and dedication. His story is a powerful example of resilience and the ability to turn challenges into opportunities.

The project connects volunteer runners with individuals with physical disabilities or reduced mobility, enabling them to experience the unique thrill of participating in road races and sports events.
Using adapted tricycles, volunteers propel participants during races, providing the joy of crossing the finish line and the spirit of unity and perseverance that defines the running world. More than just a sports activity, Pernas do Amor celebrates diversity and human potential, while fostering social bonds.

In 2021, Geison participated in a sports exchange in Mexico, collaborating with the Club Nido Águila, the country's largest youth soccer school. During his stay, he engaged in valuable networking and exchange of experiences, sharing knowledge about inclusive sports practices and learning from the institution's projects.
Currently, in the United States, Geison continues to strengthen his work with major sports organizations. He collaborates with prestigious institutions such as the Boston Athletic Association, Special Olympics, and the organizing team of the Cambridge Half Marathon, among others.
